Critical Parts TRT (Text Recognition)

RM has Text Recognition Technology areas for both estimate conversion item management and critical parts designation.  A competitive advantage that RM has over competitors is the ability to manage or change an estimate line item to reflect how the shop manages the accounting of that estimate item in parts, labor, sublet or misc.

There are part items written on estimates and supplements that must be categorized as a “Critical” part.  The Rome definition of a critical part is “any part that is needed to get the vehicle to the paint department”.  These items include parts that must be painted and parts that must be test fitted to the vehicle before paint.  For example, a headlight can be a critical part as the body tech will need the headlight to test fit the hood, fender, and front bumper cover.  These critical items DO NOT include, clips, decals, moldings, emblems, and fasteners that can be installed after paint.

To view, add or change the Critical Part TRT Search Strings go to “Setup”, “RO Status Processing”, “Critical Parts TRT Search”.

On the “Included Search Strings” tab is the list of active search strings.  The format for these strings is exactly like the “Estimate Conversion TRT Strings”.

A/M CAR COVER                     This string or rule will only make a critical part of a part line with this EXACT spelling.

A/M CAR COV*                       This string or rule will only make a critical part of parts lines that START with the entire string and end with anything after the asterisk.

*A/M CAR COV*                     This string or rule will only make a critical part of parts lines that INCLUDE the exact characters between the asterisks.

*A/M CAR COVER                   This string or rule will only make a critical part of parts lines that END with the exact characters after the asterisk.

On the “Excluded Search Strings” Tab, you must add any conversion type “global” conditional exclusions to the included search strings.  For example, if you want to convert “bumper” but wanted to exclude any line that reads “bumper clips”, then add the string “clip” to the “Excluded Search Strings” list.  Remember that this list is global to the Critical Part Included Search Strings.
