Idle Time Out
Idle Time Out
For your safety and security, Rome IT has implemented a 3-hour idle timer for Rome users. If a user does not click anywhere in Rome for 3 hours, the server will log out. Timeouts occur when the sessions go idle for a period of time, meaning when the system does not receive any action from the mouse or keyboard. Your progress in Rome will save if you had a repair order open.
Timeouts ensure that sessions close when they are no longer in use, preventing unauthorized access and reducing exposure to data breaches. Take the example of logging into a bank website, your personal information is in their system. If a user is idle for 15 minutes, the website will log you out for inactivity. If a user is logged in and leaves their computer unattended, malicious software or person could take advantage of the situation to find or change important information.
Session timeouts provide an extra layer of security to protect your profile from being compromised. Since we can’t know when or where this might happen, the precaution must be applied to every user account. Please understand that this is a security measure that is required moving forward.
Remember to always close sessions when you are done working. We hope this post helped you gain a greater understanding of how session timeouts protect your login from unauthorized access.
